2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV Is A 1,153-HP Showcase Of What Electric Performance Cars Can Do

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2027 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, an all-electric performance sedan combining cutting-edge technology with high-output power. The vehicle sits on the AMG.EA electric platform and features a tri-motor configuration, producing up to 1,153 horsepower. Unlike traditional permanent magnet motors, the AMG GT uses axial-flux motors—thinner, lighter, and more power-dense—with one motor on the front axle and two on the rear, each integrated into a High Performance Electric Drive Unit (HP.EDU). The front HP.EDU includes a single axial-flux motor reaching over 15,000 rpm, acting as a booster for extra power when needed, while the rear HP.EDU combines two motors with a single-stage planetary gearbox, both cooled by oil and paired with water-cooled silicon carbide (SiC) inverters. These components enable rapid acceleration and sustained performance, with the motors delivering peak efficiency even at high speeds. Beyond raw power, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe incorporates active aerodynamics, customizable driving dynamics, and a system called AMGFORCE, which replicates the sound and haptic feedback of a V8 engine for an immersive driving experience. The vehicle also promises faster charging capabilities than most U.S. stations currently support, aligning with Mercedes’ vision for high-performance electric mobility. The concept’s predecessor, the 2023 Concept GT XX, validated the design and technology when real-world prototypes completed a global drive in under eight days, setting range and efficiency benchmarks. Now in production form, the 2027 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe solidifies Mercedes-AMG’s push into electric performance, blending futuristic design with engineering advancements like axial-flux motors and SiC inverters for unmatched capability.
