Air Tanzania To Start Moscow Flights Via Zanzibar From July 2026

Air Tanzania will begin flights to Russia in July 2026, marking its first-ever service to the country. The airline will operate three weekly flights from Moscow to Dar es Salaam via Zanzibar on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The seasonal route will run from July 2 until October 24, 2026. The announcement was made by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2026. She highlighted Zanzibar’s growing appeal as a stopover for Russian travelers, particularly for beach holidays and safaris. Tanzania aims to double Russian tourism, targeting 500,000 visitors annually by 2030 and eventually reaching one million. The new flights will strengthen tourism links and improve business connectivity between Russia and East Africa. The route will operate as a seasonal service, leveraging Zanzibar’s status as a key destination for Russian tourists seeking winter sun and adventure. Air Tanzania’s entry into the Russian market reflects Tanzania’s broader strategy to expand its tourism sector and attract more international visitors.
