Amca, a fast-growing aerospace components manufacturer headquartered in El Segundo, California, has reached unicorn status with a $300 million Series B funding round, valuing the company at over $1 billion. The investment was led by Caffeinated Capital, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux Capital, Construct Capital, and House Capital. The funds will accelerate the deployment of Amca’s AI-driven RAPID product-development platform and expand its certified factory network, which now spans over 123,000 square feet across California, Iowa, and New York. The RAPID platform integrates design, prototyping, testing, and technical data into a unified workflow, reducing development-to-deployment timelines by over two-thirds in some cases. CEO Jai Malik emphasized that Amca’s model combines engineering, qualification testing, and manufacturing under one roof, enabling faster certification and production for defense programs like the F-35. The company serves major aerospace and defense clients, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Airbus. Amca operates six or seven factories following a series of acquisitions, including Electro-Mech Components, Cal-Draulics, and BC Systems, which produce hydraulics, avionics, and power electronics. The new funding will support additional factory expansions and acquisitions to address strained supply chains in the aerospace sector. Investors see potential in merging modern software with traditional manufacturing to overcome long-standing capacity bottlenecks. The funding round reflects a broader trend of venture capital flowing into defense technology and industrial reshoring initiatives. Amca’s backers have previously supported high-profile defense startups, signaling growing confidence in the sector. The company’s focus on streamlining certification and production processes positions it as a key player in strengthening America’s critical component supply chain for defense and aerospace applications.
