ASPEED Technology and Lattice Semiconductor Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Next-Generation Control for Datacenter Management

ASPEED Technology and Lattice Semiconductor announced a strategic partnership on May 28, 2026, to advance programmable control for next-generation datacenter systems. As part of this collaboration, ASPEED introduced the AST1840 Satellite Management Controller (SMC), a device merging platform management with embedded FPGA technology. This integration allows designers to customize functionality, adapt interfaces, and extend capabilities over time without adding system complexity. The AST1840 supports modern datacenter deployment through the LTPI interface, connecting with ASPEED’s BMC while adhering to OCP’s OBMF-ICP standard via dual USB interfaces. It also incorporates Streaming Boot functionality based on Caliptra 2.x Root of Trust, aligning with evolving industry standards. The device is designed to simplify system integration and reduce reliance on additional components, addressing the demands of AI workloads and modular datacenter architectures. ASPEED’s Chairman and President, Chris Lin, highlighted the AST1840 as a key step toward flexible management solutions for modern servers. Lattice Semiconductor’s CEO, Ford Tamer, emphasized the growing need for programmable control in datacenter systems, noting that the partnership brings programmable capabilities closer to BMC platforms. The AST1840 is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026, marking the first commercial result of this collaboration.
