Bilateral Meeting with the President and the Vice President of the People's Republic of China

Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Brunei’s Crown Prince and Senior Minister, held bilateral meetings in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice President Han Zheng. The discussions underscored the deep historical and diplomatic ties between Brunei Darussalam and China, marking the 35th anniversary of their relations this year. Prince Haji highlighted the 2025 Strategic Cooperative Partnership agreement, aimed at deepening mutual trust and economic collaboration. During the talks, Brunei reaffirmed its commitment to an open, inclusive multilateral system alongside China, praising the ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations and their regional benefits. The Prince also congratulated China on hosting the 2026 APEC Summit and offered Brunei’s support for preparations. In a separate meeting with Vice President Han Zheng, Prince Haji recalled Han’s 2024 visit to Brunei and praised the countries’ expanding cooperation in politics, economics, and socio-cultural fields. He acknowledged China’s development progress while stressing the need for joint efforts to navigate geopolitical uncertainties and sustain economic growth. The meetings concluded with a dinner banquet hosted by Vice President Han Zheng at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening bilateral relations for shared prosperity, building on decades of collaboration.
