BJP's influence now stretches from Gangotri to Gangasagar: Amit Shah

BJP leader Amit Shah addressed a public event in Gujarat, emphasizing the party’s expanding influence across India, from Gangotri in Uttarakhand to Gangasagar in West Bengal. He stated that the Modi government’s development model, initially implemented in Gujarat, now covers 80% of the country’s geography, including regions like Kashmir and Kanyakumari. Shah credited the BJP for electoral victories, such as the TMC’s defeat in West Bengal, and claimed the party’s focus on national security, including border fencing and anti-infiltration measures. Shah highlighted the completion of 12 years of the Modi government’s tenure, asserting its role in fostering development while expanding the BJP’s political footprint. He also referenced the party’s promise to begin border fencing in West Bengal immediately after the state elections, noting that 600 hectares of land had been handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) and an additional 121 hectares for the Chicken’s Neck corridor project. Shah claimed illegal border crossings had decreased under the current government, with infiltrators reportedly returning on their own. During his speech, Shah also discussed Veer Savarkar’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle, criticizing opposition-led governments for allegedly failing to recognize his legacy. He recalled Savarkar’s imprisonment in Cellular Jail and his prophecy that British rule would end before his lifetime, a claim that Shah used to underscore the BJP’s historical narrative. The remarks were made while Shah laid the foundation stone for development projects in Gujarat, reinforcing the party’s focus on infrastructure and national pride.
