Bouchon Racine named UK’s Best Restaurant at National Restaurant Awards

Bouchon Racine, a French-inspired bistro in Clerkenwell, London, has been named the UK’s Best Restaurant at the 2026 National Restaurant Awards. Led by chef Henry Harris, the restaurant—known for its comforting French cuisine and warm hospitality—overtook The Ritz to claim the top spot, marking its first victory after previously ranking fifth in 2025. The awards, announced on June 8 at a ceremony in London, celebrated industry leaders alongside rising stars. Osip and The Ritz London secured second place, with Osip praised for its farm-to-table ethos and The Ritz recognized for its refined dining experience under chef John Williams. The National Restaurant Awards, judged by UK chefs and food writers, highlight the country’s top 100 restaurants annually. Other winners included Adam Byatt, named Restaurateur of the Year for his sustainable approach to cooking, and Simon Rogan, who received the Outstanding Industry Contribution Award for his influence on British gastronomy. Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s Legado earned the Highest New Entry and Chef of the Year honors, while 29 new restaurants joined the top 100, including Tiella and Vraic. Regional awards recognized Ynyshir as Best in Wales, Timberyard in Scotland for Best Restaurant and Cocktail List of the Year, and The Muddlers Club in Northern Ireland. The Devonshire retained its title as Gastropub of the Year, reflecting the UK’s diverse and evolving dining scene.
