Cherokee Community School District has named a superintendent

The Cherokee Community School District has named Jeff Siebersma as its next superintendent, pending final board approval. Siebersma is currently principal of Indianola High School in Indianola, Iowa, and has nearly 14 years of administrative experience. He has overseen building operations, student services, and instructional leadership, and managed significant budgets and large-scale initiatives. Siebersma holds a master's degree in PK-12 school administration from Wayne State College and is expected to complete a superintendency program at Drake University in May 2026. The School Board extended an offer to Siebersma on April 22, which he verbally accepted. A special meeting is scheduled for April 28 to formally extend a contract to Siebersma.
