Cisco buys Astrix Security to strengthen AI agent discovery and governance

Cisco Systems Inc. has acquired Astrix Security Ltd., an Israeli cybersecurity firm, to bolster AI agent security. Astrix's platform identifies, manages, and secures AI agents in production environments. The acquisition's terms were not disclosed, but it is reportedly worth around $300 million. Astrix's software creates a real-time inventory of AI agents and non-human identities, enabling security teams to understand associated risks. Cisco will integrate Astrix's capabilities with its Identity Intelligence platform and extend its functionality to zero-trust offerings. The acquisition aims to address the growing need for agentic security, as only 24% of businesses can currently control AI agents with proper guardrails and live monitoring.
