Commanders Could Consider Signing 4-Time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs to Boost Offense

The Washington Commanders are evaluating the addition of Stefon Diggs to strengthen their offense as they aim to return to playoff contention with quarterback Jayden Daniels. The team lost key receivers like Deebo Samuel, who led in targets (99), receptions (72), yards (727), and touchdowns (5) last season, leaving gaps in the receiving corps. Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, played a pivotal role for the New England Patriots in 2025, starting all 17 games with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He has been a consistent performer since 2015, appearing in at least 14 games in eight of the last nine seasons and surpassing 1,000 receiving yards seven times. Despite tearing his ACL with the Houston Texans in 2024, he recovered to become the top option for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. The Commanders have $43.9 million in available cap space, and projections suggest Diggs could sign a two-year, $27.6 million deal. His experience and reliability could benefit Daniels, who is entering his third season. While Washington has expressed satisfaction with their current receiver room, Diggs remains a viable option to address potential weaknesses. With OTAs completed and mandatory minicamp beginning, coach Dan Quinn and his staff will assess their roster closely.
