DEF brings together gaming, technology and entertainment

The Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF) 2026, organized by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), runs until June 7. The festival integrates gaming, esports, technology, and entertainment, offering live tournaments, interactive experiences, and educational initiatives like the GameOn Programme and DEF Educational Summit. These efforts connect students, educators, and professionals with opportunities in the gaming industry. DEF 2026 features partnerships with du, Amazon, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Jetour UAE, and talabat to drive Dubai’s ambition of becoming a global gaming and digital innovation hub. The expanded program includes esports tournaments, cosplay competitions, and community activations, designed to inspire participation and talent development. Karim Benkirane, Chief Commercial Officer at du, highlighted the festival’s role in enriching digital experiences and supporting Dubai’s vision for innovation. He emphasized du’s commitment to fostering skills and opportunities for young people through technology and connectivity. Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, noted the festival’s importance in advancing cultural and creative industries. She stressed its ability to empower emerging talent and drive collaboration across the gaming ecosystem, aligning with Dubai’s broader goals for digital excellence. The event underscores the growing significance of gaming and esports as dynamic sectors, offering pathways for creators, developers, and aspiring professionals in the region.
