Disciplinary records of property agents, agencies now easier to view through updated CEA register

Singapore’s Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) has enhanced its public register to allow consumers to view enforcement records of property agents and agencies for the past three years. The update includes specific enforcement actions such as letters of censure, disciplinary committee actions, and court prosecutions taken between 2023 and 2025, enabling easier comparisons across agencies. Previously, consumers could only search for individual agents by name, contact number, or registration number. Now, the register displays the total number of enforcement actions per agency, including the number of agents registered with each agency. This change aims to improve transparency and empower consumers to make informed decisions before engaging agents. Enforcement actions against agents have increased significantly, rising from 10 in 2023 to 82 in 2025. In 2025, ERA Realty Network faced 31 enforcement actions, while PropNex Realty had 28. Other agencies with notable cases included Huttons Asia (9), OrangeTee and Tie (5), and Singapore Realtors Inc (4). CEA’s executive director, Chan Khar Liang, stated in a June 10 article that the update reflects efforts to raise industry professionalism and urged agencies to strengthen supervision of their agents. Consumers are advised to check an agent’s record before engaging their services. The new system allows for comparisons of enforcement rates across agencies of different sizes, providing clearer insights into agent conduct. This transparency is intended to foster accountability within the real estate industry.
