Elliot Cadeau returning to Michigan Wolverines basketball for 2026-27

Elliot Cadeau has officially withdrawn from the 2026 NBA Draft and will return to the Michigan Wolverines for the 2026-27 season. The decision was confirmed after Cadeau agreed to a new deal with the Wolverines in mid-April, though he initially declared for the draft to gather information. Cadeau, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound point guard, averaged 10.5 points and 5.9 assists per game during his first season with Michigan in 2025-26. Despite a career-low shooting percentage of 41.1%, he improved his three-point shooting to 37.6% and scored in double figures in 21 of Michigan’s games. He also recorded six games with double-digit assists and three double-doubles. Cadeau played a pivotal role in Michigan’s NCAA Tournament run, averaging 12.3 points and 7.5 assists in six tournament games. His performance included a season-high 19 points in the championship win over UConn, showcasing his ability to lead a team without a true backup. For the upcoming season, Cadeau will partner with Trey McKenney in the backcourt, supported by five-star freshman Brandon McCoy. Michigan’s roster is bolstered by the No. 1 incoming class in the nation, combining transfer portal and high school recruits. The Wolverines are still awaiting decisions from Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr., both projected as first-round NBA Draft picks. Once their decisions are finalized, Michigan will use its 15th roster spot for additional wing depth.
