Fairport Harbor School Board appoints new district superintendent

The Fairport Harbor School Board has unanimously appointed Karl Schneider as the new district superintendent. Schneider will begin his duties on August 1, succeeding William Billington, who is resigning on July 31. Schneider has 26 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and educational leader, having worked as an administrator in Parma Schools and executive director of operations for Bedford School District. He holds a doctorate degree in education from Concordia University and licenses to work as a teacher, principal, and school superintendent. The board chose Schneider for his commitment to academic excellence, student success, community engagement, and fiscal responsibility. Schneider has been recognized for implementing a comprehensive strategic plan that led to gains in student achievement and community engagement. The board entered into a three-year contract with Schneider, with an annual starting salary of $120,000.
