Grand Esports 2026 launched to enrich national esports ecosystem

Vietnam’s Grand Esports 2026, launched on May 14 in Hanoi, introduces the country’s first state-backed esports tournament series, organized by the Vietnam Sports Authority (VSA), Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC), and the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association. The initiative aims to develop a formal esports ecosystem and support Vietnam’s digital sports economy, aligning with the National Esports Development Strategy for 2026–2030. Four key events will define the series: the Vietnam Esports National Cup (VENC) in June, featuring *Crossfire* and *Au Mobile* with a $13,000 prize pool, will scout talent for national teams while promoting professionalism. The Esports Grand Championship (EGC) in 2026 will host regional powerhouses like South Korea, China, and Japan in titles such as *Audition PC* and *Summoners War*, positioning Vietnam as a new esports hub. The Grand Esports Festival, held July 9–12 in Hanoi, will include cosplay, industry conferences, and fan interactions with gaming influencers. The Grand Esports Awards in December will honor top players, teams, and coaches for their contributions to Vietnam’s esports growth. Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized esports’ role in Vietnam’s cultural and economic development, citing its potential to drive tourism, digital transformation, and youth engagement. The collaboration between VSA and VTC Mobile under a Memorandum of Understanding will focus on high-value tournaments, media production, and tourism integration. Grand Esports 2026 reflects Vietnam’s commitment to formalizing esports as a competitive and economic sector, with plans to expand its influence globally through structured events and professional development.
