Group 1 opens first of three Geely dealerships

Group 1 Automotive UK launched its first Geely dealership on June 1, 2026, at Storey’s Bar Road in Peterborough. This marks the start of a three-site partnership with the Chinese automaker, with additional dealerships scheduled to open in Bishop’s Stortford and Watford later in the year. The Peterborough location will showcase Geely’s latest electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the long-range EX5 Ultra and other electrified models. The collaboration strengthens Group 1’s position in the UK’s growing electrified vehicle market. Daniel McHenry, Group 1 UK’s new chief executive, highlighted Geely’s advanced technology and future-focused approach, emphasizing the appeal of its electric and plug-in hybrid options for customers. Adam Harkin, dealer development director at Geely Auto UK, welcomed Group 1 to the Geely network, praising the company’s scale, reputation, and customer experience focus. This partnership aligns with Geely’s goal of expanding its high-quality retail presence across the UK. Earlier this year, Geely established a new European R&D hub to accelerate UK model launches and support localization efforts. The hub will oversee engineering for Geely, Zeekr, and Lynk & Co vehicles, aiming to double the number of European carline projects managed by 2027. This initiative complements the dealership expansion, ensuring a robust infrastructure for Geely’s growing market share in the UK.
