India Issues Fresh Ebola Advisory, Asks Travellers From Affected Countries To Monitor Symptoms For 21 Days

India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released an updated Ebola advisory, advising travelers arriving from or transiting through affected countries—including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan—to monitor their health for 21 days. The advisory instructs individuals to isolate and contact local health authorities immediately if symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, or unexplained bleeding occur. No confirmed Ebola cases have been reported in India, but the government emphasized heightened vigilance to prevent potential spread. The advisory follows recent public concern after a Gujarat traveler, who had arrived from the Congo, was initially suspected of having Ebola but later tested negative. Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya urged citizens to avoid panic and rely on official sources for accurate information. The India-Africa Forum Summit, scheduled for May 28 in New Delhi, was postponed as authorities assessed evolving health risks.
