Ineffable Intelligence raises $1.1B at $5.1B valuation to build an AI ‘superlearner’

Ineffable Intelligence Ltd., a British AI startup, has secured $1.1 billion in seed funding at a $5.1 billion valuation. The investment was led by Lightspeed Ventures and Sequoia Capital, with participation from Nvidia Corp., Google LLC, and the U.K's Sovereign AI Fund. The company is led by David Silver, a prominent AI researcher who previously spent over a decade at DeepMind. Ineffable Intelligence plans to develop an AI 'superlearner' using reinforcement learning, which can obtain new knowledge and accelerate scientific research. The startup will skip the pre-training step and use simulations to enable its AI models to learn from each other. This approach is similar to AlphaGo, the AI model Silver developed at DeepMind, which played millions of Go matches against itself to develop novel tactics.
