Israel attacks Hezbollah targets in Beirut's southern suburbs

Israel’s military struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh neighborhood on June 14 after the Iran-backed group fired three projectiles into northern Israel, violating a ceasefire. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted a Hezbollah command center in a "precise" strike, while Lebanese state news agency NNA reported two deaths and four injuries in the attack, which used two missiles. The escalation occurred as the U.S. and Iran neared a deal to end a three-month conflict that has strained global energy supplies. Iran has conditioned any agreement on a ceasefire in Lebanon, where Israeli forces remain deployed despite Lebanese-led negotiations in Washington. Hezbollah has rejected talks, demanding an end to all hostilities and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon. Israel had earlier warned residents of 30 southern Lebanese towns and villages to evacuate, citing ongoing military operations to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure. The conflict has already killed thousands in Lebanon and displaced over a million people since Hezbollah entered the war in March, following U.S. and Israeli airstrikes against Iranian targets. Fighting in southern Lebanon shows no signs of slowing, despite diplomatic efforts.
