'Let Vijay form govt': DMK's Stalin says will watch TVK in Tamil Nadu 'without disturbing' for 6 months

DMK President and outgoing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has paved the way for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to form the government in the state. Stalin stated that he would not want a constitutional crisis in Tamil Nadu and that his party will 'watch without disturbing for six months'. The DMK chief urged the new government to continue welfare schemes started under DMK rule. Stalin mentioned the free breakfast scheme for schoolchildren and 'Kalaignar magalir urimai thogai' (₹1,000 monthly allowance to women heads of households) as schemes that should be continued. He also suggested that the new government give women at least ₹1,000, as promised by DMK, instead of ₹2,500 promised by Vijay during the poll campaign. Stalin's statement came as TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is set to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
