Marvel Legend Stan Lee ‘Resurrected’ Via AI for Controversial Comics Project

ElevenLabs has secured a deal with Stan Lee Universe, a joint venture between Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment, to license Stan Lee’s voice and likeness for AI-driven projects. The agreement allows ElevenLabs to use Lee’s likeness in its Iconic Marketplace, where companies can officially license celebrity voices and images for products. The partnership includes the *Stan Lee Book Club of the Month*, where an AI-generated version of Lee’s voice will narrate a different book monthly via Eleven Reader. The first selection is Robert Louis Stevenson’s *Treasure Island*. Additionally, ElevenCreative Music will release two music filters inspired by Lee: *Superhero Cinematic Swells* and *Retro Hero Fanfare*, enabling users to incorporate his voice and style into their creations. ElevenLabs announced the project with a promotional video featuring Lee’s AI voice, stating, *‘You know what they never tell you about legends? They outlive the page.’* Users will also be able to generate Lee’s likeness in comic book-inspired templates through ElevenLabs’ visual tools, further extending his digital presence. Chaz Rainey, a board member for Stan Lee Universe, described the collaboration as a way to honor Lee’s legacy by bringing his storytelling to fans in new formats. *‘Fans have always told us that when they read his comics, they hear the words in Stan’s voice,’* Rainey said, adding that ElevenLabs provides a platform to keep his voice and image alive authentically. This initiative follows a similar deal last year, where British actor Michael Caine licensed his voice for AI replication through ElevenLabs. The project raises ethical questions about posthumous digital use of celebrity likenesses, though supporters argue it preserves Lee’s cultural impact for future generations.
