MG Invests €200 Million in New European EV Manufacturing Hub in Spain

MG is investing €200 million in a new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Galicia, Spain, marking a major step in its European expansion. The facility, aligned with MG’s 'In Europe, For Europe' initiative, will start production in 2028 with an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles and generate over 2,000 jobs. The site will combine vehicle production, research and development, component supply, and logistics to enhance efficiency and reduce reliance on global supply chains. The project supports Europe’s transition to electrification, aligning with the EU’s 2035 zero-emission vehicle targets. MG will collaborate with European tech firms, research institutions, and suppliers to develop next-generation battery systems, intelligent transport solutions, and clean energy innovations. The company recently introduced its SolidCore semi-solid-state battery, designed to improve energy density and performance in mass-produced EVs. MG’s investment follows rapid growth in Europe, where it delivered its one-millionth vehicle in the region earlier this year. The brand operates across 34 European markets with over 1,300 dealer partners and recently expanded its EV lineup with models like the MG4 EV Urban and MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid. These additions complement MG’s Hybrid+ and plug-in hybrid technologies, offering consumers more sustainable mobility options. The new Spanish facility will serve as a cornerstone of MG’s European operations, reinforcing its commitment to localized production. By integrating advanced manufacturing and R&D, MG aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles while strengthening its position in the competitive European market.
