Namaaste Highgate named one of UK's best curry restaurants

Namaaste Kitchen in Highgate, London, has been named among the UK’s top 100 curry restaurants in the 2026 guide by the Asian Catering Federation. The restaurant was praised for delivering high standards of food, building community, and creating jobs while upholding exceptional hospitality. Chef Sabbir Karim, who previously won awards for best newcomer and best London restaurant, launched Namaaste Kitchen during the Covid pandemic. His focus on home-style cooking and vibrant street food has attracted celebrities and politicians, while his charity work—including funding a free medical clinic for thousands of families in rural Bangladesh—earned him a special award last year. The federation’s guide highlights venues that excel in food quality, community engagement, and service. Selections are based on public voting and recommendations from a panel of judges, including chefs Tony Khan and Rajesh Suri. Yawar Khan, chairman of the Asian Catering Federation, emphasized the guide’s mission to celebrate excellence in the Asian hospitality sector. The announcement took place at the federation’s annual networking dinner at the House of Commons, attended by MP Sarah Olney and brand ambassador Anisa Khan. Anisa Khan noted that the UK’s nearly 10,000 curry restaurants reflect more than just culinary success—they represent community, innovation, and lasting experiences.
