Nasarawa gov’s Senate bid gains ground as supporters begin consultations

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule’s campaign team has launched grassroots consultations to win the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa North senatorial ticket for the 2027 election. The Advisory Council for Sule’s Senate bid, led by Chairman Timothy Anjide, held a town hall meeting in Mada Station, Agidi Administrative Area, where they promised infrastructure improvements, including the reconstruction of the degraded Mada Station road, if Sule secures the ticket. The campaign council, headed by Philip Gyunka, also visited the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku (retd), to seek royal blessings and support for Sule’s candidacy. Gyunka highlighted Sule’s administration’s achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and inclusive governance, emphasizing a continued focus on these priorities if elected. The monarch commended the campaign’s approach and urged an issue-based, unity-driven election process, warning against divisive politics. Sule’s campaign plans to engage with traditional rulers, party officials, youth groups, and community leaders across Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, and Wamba local government areas. Local leaders, including Nasarawa Eggon LGA Chairman Barr. Iliya Aliyu and Special Adviser Dr. Justina Anjiode-Kotso, urged residents to support Sule to ensure his continued development agenda at the federal level. The campaign follows the submission of nomination forms by a rival candidate, former Deputy Governor Silas Agara, who also seeks the Nasarawa North senatorial seat. Sule’s team has framed its push as a commitment to sustaining progress, with Anjide stating that the governor’s Senate bid aims to ‘spread development across the state.’ The Aren Eggon’s endorsement underscores the campaign’s strategy of leveraging traditional leadership to strengthen its grassroots appeal.
