Natasha Reacts as Supreme Court Voids Ibadan PDP Convention, Clears Way for Wike-backed Group

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has invalidated the Ibadan convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a split 3-2 decision. The court upheld the judgments of the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court, which nullified the convention that produced Kabiru Turaki's faction. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has called for dialogue among aggrieved PDP members to resolve internal disputes amicably. The PDP's internal factional disputes have been stirred by recent judicial pronouncements. Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that the Supreme Court's ruling was limited in scope and only invalidated the Ibadan Convention. The senator expressed confidence in the PDP's success in the 2027 elections, stating that the party will field candidates and win a good number of seats. The current leadership structure of the PDP remains institutionally recognized, as reflected on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.
