NDC welcomes Marafa, hails defection as boost to party’s national outlook

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally welcomed former Zamfara Central senator Kabir Marafa into its ranks. Marafa's move comes after he joined the African Democratic Congress from the All Progressives Congress less than three weeks prior. He stated that his decision to leave the APC was due to growing dissatisfaction with developments within the party and a lack of recognition for his contributions. Insecurity in Zamfara and the wider North-West was a key factor influencing his decision. Marafa pledged to work with the NDC leadership to build a strong political structure capable of delivering change in Zamfara and across Nigeria. The NDC's National Leader, Senator Seriake Henry Dickson, described Marafa's decision as based on shared values and principles. The NDC claims to be a party for all Nigerians, focusing on service rather than power, and asserts it is free of internal crises and litigations.
