New musical 'Senioritis' to debut in Oakdale

Donna Lipari, 74, of Deer Park, has turned her experience working at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale into a musical. 'Senioritis: We're Still Here!' will run May 16-17 at the CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale. The show follows eight seniors who move into a care facility, drawing from Lipari's observations of the residents' attitudes towards aging. Lipari worked at the facility as a high school and college student, playing music for residents and starting a glee club. The musical features a diverse cast, including an Italian couple, a Jewish couple, and a gay couple, as well as two young activities directors. Lipari, a singer-songwriter and voice teacher, has performed with several bands and written parodies for clients. Tickets for the show range from $40-$45, with discounts for seniors and veterans.
