New York healthcare executive chosen to lead University Medical Center

Tammy Snyder, currently senior vice president for Rochester Regional Health in upstate New York, will become the new chief executive officer of UVA Health University Medical Center in August. Snyder has 15 years of experience managing large-scale patient care operations, quality initiatives, and operational improvements. She previously served as president and chief operating officer of Rochester General Hospital and held leadership roles at Johns Hopkins Medicine and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine. Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Health in health policy and administration from Yale University’s School of Public Health. Snyder’s appointment follows her earlier career as chief administrative officer for the Department of Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Mitch Rosner, CEO of UVA Health and executive vice president for health affairs at the University of Virginia, stated that Snyder was selected for her vision, operational expertise, and leadership qualities. He emphasized that University Medical Center is undergoing a period of transformation and growth, requiring a leader who aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
