Nyobolt raises funding to bring fast charging to more robots

Nyobolt, a Cambridge, U.K.-based company specializing in power performance systems for autonomous robots, has secured $60 million in funding to expand its technology. The round, led by Symbotic—a leader in AI-enabled robotics for supply chains—also included IQ Capital, Latitude, Scania Invest, and CBMM. With a valuation exceeding $1 billion, Nyobolt aims to address the growing energy demands of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) as they transition from warehouses to hospitals and city streets. The company’s fast-charging battery technology is designed to replace traditional lithium-ion and ultracapacitor systems, offering six times the energy capacity while being 40% lighter. It also achieves at least 10 times the cycle life of lithium-ion batteries, enabling continuous 24/7 operations without downtime. Nyobolt’s solution supports Symbotic’s SymBot AMRs, improving efficiency and uptime for warehouse deployments. Nyobolt’s CEO, Sai Shivareddy, stated that the company enables ‘always-on, always-moving infrastructure’ for physical AI applications, where downtime or power fluctuations are unacceptable. The technology combines improved performance, durability, and sustainability, allowing robots to operate harder and smarter. The funding follows a period of rapid growth, with Nyobolt reporting a fivefold increase in annual revenue. This surge reflects rising demand for autonomous systems in logistics, data centers, and other industries. Nyobolt is also expanding its presence in India, signaling broader global ambitions. Symbotic’s Chief Strategy Officer, Bill Boyd, highlighted the partnership’s potential to enhance robotics efficiency, calling Nyobolt’s technology a ‘key enabler’ for scalable autonomous systems. The company’s proprietary tech stack addresses limitations in traditional battery performance, catering to the unpredictable energy needs of physical AI systems. Nyobolt’s innovations aim to redefine power infrastructure for robots, ensuring seamless, high-intensity operations across diverse environments.
