One film, two friends and the work behind 'Two Regimes' collection

Kelly Bowen and Mimi Shaw co-own 'The Two Regimes Collection', discovered at an estate sale in 2000. The collection includes artwork and writings documenting a mother and daughter's survival during Stalin's Holodomor and Hitler's Holocaust in Ukraine. The mother, Teodora Verbitskaya, wrote a memoir, while the daughter, Nadia Werbitzky, created original artworks. The collection has grown into an internationally known initiative providing historical education through various resources, including books, films, and lesson plans. Bowen, with her background in accounting and fashion design, has been instrumental in cataloging the 118 paintings. A film screening and panel discussion will be held at the Tallahassee Senior Center on April 29.
