Parent company of Trump’s Truth Social reports $400M loss

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, reported a net loss of over $400 million in the first quarter ending March 31. The loss stemmed largely from cryptocurrency investments, which declined as Bitcoin’s price dropped from $126,000 in October to below $70,000 in March. TMTG recorded the loss despite not selling the assets, as accounting rules require valuation adjustments, and revenue for the quarter was less than $1 million. The company, valued at $2.47 billion, remains focused on expanding Truth Social’s infrastructure and audience ahead of future monetization efforts. Trump, who owns about 41% of TMTG through a trust managing his financial interests, continues to use Truth Social for official announcements. TMTG also operates in financial services, having secured $2.5 billion in funding last year to invest in cryptocurrencies, an area Trump has publicly supported. The filing highlighted that nearly all of the quarter’s losses came from digital assets, with Bitcoin’s rebound to over $80,000 offering limited relief. TMTG’s revenue of $900,000—disclosed in the same filing—underscores the platform’s early-stage monetization challenges despite its high valuation. The company’s broader strategy includes a planned merger with TAE, a nuclear fusion technology developer, expected to close in mid-2026.
