Pirelli’s Tires Already Have Sensors In The Rubber, Now They’re Adding AI Eyes Too

Pirelli, an Italian tire giant, has partnered with Swedish tech firm Univrses, acquiring a 30% stake. The partnership enhances Pirelli's Cyber Tyre technology with Univrses' AI-based computer vision systems. Cyber Tyre is a hardware and software system that assists driver assistance systems and enables road monitoring. Univrses' 3DAI engine software provides autonomous vehicles with perception capabilities, including Spatial Deep Learning and 3D Mapping. The companies have already launched a road network monitoring pilot in Italy's Puglia Region in 2025. The technology combines Cyber Tyre data with Univrses' computer vision to build a continuously updated map of infrastructure conditions.
