Robinhood CEO launches bold agentic AI trading feature

Robinhood has launched two AI-driven financial tools designed to automate trading and purchasing tasks. Agentic Trading lets users create a dedicated account where an AI agent executes trades based on predefined instructions, such as portfolio rebalancing or mean-reversion strategies. The agent operates within set limits, with real-time notifications and instant disconnect options. Support for equities is live in beta, with plans to expand to options, crypto, and futures later. The second feature, Agentic Credit Card, connects to a virtual Robinhood Gold Card, allowing AI agents to monitor prices and make purchases automatically. Users set spending caps and provide instructions, such as buying sneakers below a certain price or booking reservations. Purchases still earn 3% cash back, and the virtual card remains isolated from primary accounts. Robinhood’s move follows years of AI investment, including resolving 75% of customer service tickets via AI and achieving a 50% increase in code commit velocity since 2025. CEO Vlad Tenev, an engineer by training, emphasized the company’s engineering-first approach as key to building reliable agentic systems. The platform targets its tech-savvy user base—27.5 million customers, half of whom are first-generation investors—with a median age of 36. The launch positions Robinhood as a leader in AI-driven finance, blending automation with user control. Both features prioritize security, with agents restricted to designated funds and clear oversight options.
