RSG completes modernisation of AlWajh International Airport

Red Sea Global (RSG) has finalized the modernization of AlWajh International Airport (EJH), located in northwest Saudi Arabia. The project, the first infrastructure initiative by RSG beyond destination development, now supports three weekly flights from Riyadh (RUH) and two from Jeddah (JED) via Saudia, with international routes expected soon. The upgraded airport can accommodate most commercial aircraft, including Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 families, along with seaplanes. Its capacity has increased to 500,000 passengers annually, up from 100,000, with a peak capacity of 330 passengers per hour across four gates. The design integrates local architecture from AlWajh and the Tabuk coastline, reflecting the region’s heritage. Enhanced amenities include two premium lounges, coffee shops, a mini-market, automated banking, car rentals, and parking. The terminal also supports seaplane and helicopter operations, aligning with AMAALA’s transportation plans. The airport will serve as a key gateway to AMAALA, a luxury wellness destination opening soon, located 45 minutes away by electric vehicle or 20 minutes by seaplane. RSG’s Group CEO, John Pagano, stated the project goes beyond infrastructure, fostering connectivity and economic opportunities for Tabuk and the wider region. Abdulaziz Al-Abdan, Executive Director of Aviation and Airport Operations at RSG, noted plans to expand routes with airline partners and regulatory authorities to meet future demand growth. The modernization aims to boost local tourism, business activity, and employment while reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s role in regional aviation.
