SAP SE and Cyberwave announced the successful deployment of fully autonomous AI-powered robots in SAP’s logistics warehouse in St. Leon-Rot, Germany, operationalizing Physical AI beyond research. The robots, integrated with SAP Logistics Management (LGM) and Cyberwave’s platform, now handle box folding, packaging, and shipping fulfillment tasks independently, improving warehouse throughput and reducing human workload. The deployment leverages SAP LGM’s cloud-native architecture and Cyberwave’s AI-driven robotics software, enabling rapid task adaptation without extensive programming. Traditional robotic systems require weeks of hand-coding for each task variation, but Cyberwave’s platform cuts training time to hours by using real-world data and reinforcement learning models. This allows non-expert operators to teach robots new tasks through simple demonstrations. Logistics environments present unique challenges, including irregularly shaped objects and constantly changing workflows.
