Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid: APC Youth Wing Takes Major Step in South-South

APC youth leaders from Nigeria’s South-South region met in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on May 28 to align with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and strengthen grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. The collaboration, led by APC youth leader Prince Avwomakpotor Koyoyo Uhrorho, aims to mobilize young voters through credible leadership and direct communication, avoiding violence or intimidation. Uhrorho identified Obong Prince Ikim, coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Akwa Ibom, as a key figure for driving youth engagement. He emphasized the need for leaders with grassroots acceptance to counter misinformation and promote Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The APC youth wing has begun regional consultations to solidify support structures for the 2027 campaign. Ikim praised Tinubu’s reforms, citing improvements in infrastructure, education, power supply, and food security, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. He urged youth leaders to communicate government achievements to local communities and stressed unity for national development. The meeting also acknowledged the contributions of Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to youth-focused initiatives in the region. The APC youth leadership rejected intimidation tactics, advocating instead for constructive engagement with young voters. Misinformation on social media was highlighted as a challenge, requiring direct communication to clarify government policies. Ikim’s appointment as coordinator was commended for his role in political mobilization and public service. Participants emphasized the Renewed Hope Agenda’s tangible results, framing it as a working vision rather than a slogan. The meeting concluded with a call for continued civic participation and collaboration among youth leaders across the South-South to ensure electoral success for the APC.
