Vertiv advances digital twin technology for AI infrastructure

Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure, has unveiled a production-ready digital twin capability for AI infrastructure, built on its Vertiv SmartRun platform and integrated with NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint. This advancement supports faster and more efficient deployment of AI factories by enabling simulation and validation of infrastructure configurations before physical construction. The solution addresses traditional planning challenges where power, cooling, controls, and deployment teams operate in silos. By adopting a model-based approach, Vertiv SmartRun allows infrastructure to be designed, tested, and optimized as a single system, reducing design changes and lowering integration risks. The technology also improves coordination among project teams and speeds up the transition from planning to operational readiness. Scott Armul, Vertiv’s chief product and technology officer, emphasized that AI infrastructure must be planned holistically rather than incrementally. Customers increasingly demand integrated planning across power, cooling, controls, and deployment systems to meet the rising demands of AI computing workloads. This digital twin marks the first phase of Vertiv’s broader AI factory roadmap, with future phases targeting infrastructure planning, deployment, commissioning, and lifecycle optimization. Vladimir Troy, NVIDIA’s vice president of AI Infrastructure, highlighted the need for full-stack coordination between computing and physical infrastructure, noting that the integration with NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint helps customers evaluate and prepare for future AI computing generations. The technology aims to streamline AI factory deployment by enabling early-stage infrastructure evaluation and reducing operational risks. Vertiv’s solution aligns with industry trends toward more configurable, repeatable, and simulation-ready AI infrastructure.
